What you'll learn:

In this comprehensive dressmaking course, you'll embark on an exciting journey to the art of garment creation from start to finish. You will begin by learning how to choose the perfect fabric for your project, ensuring your design is both stylish and functional. From there, you’ll dive into accurate pattern measurement, cutting techniques, and the precise laying of fabric. With expert guidance, you'll understand how to mark and match notches for flawless alignment. As you construct your garment from scratch, you’ll gain essential skills in inserting facings, closures like zips, and customizing your piece to reflect your personal style. Finally, you’ll learn to finish your garment to a professional standard, including mastering closures and crafting polished hems. By the end, you’ll have the confidence and skills to create beautiful garments with a perfect fit!

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

• How to choose suitable fabrics for your garment of choice
• How to measure and cut a pattern accurately
• How to cut and lay fabrics correctly
• How to mark and match notches
• How to construct your garment from scratch
• insert facings and closures (zips etc)
• How to alter your garment to your taste
• How to finish a garment to high standard including closures and hems

What you will need to bring along:

• Fabric and calico
• Fabric and paper scissors
• Sharp trimming scissors
• Dressmaker’s pins
• Tape measure
• Tailors chalk
• Dressmaker’s tracing wheel
• Tracing paper
• A selection of hand sewing needles and threads
• Notepad and pens, pencils, sharpener and an eraser
  

Time and Duration:

• Monday’s @ 10:30 - 14:00 (4 weeks - once a week)
