Clothes and Dressmaking: Intermediate

What you will learn:

In this project-based course, you'll refine your skills at an intermediate level by working on various elements such as pockets, collars, cuffs, plackets, waistbands, facings, and advanced fitting and garment adjustments. New students will start by creating a Classic Shirt-Style Garment. This includes fitting and adjusting patterns to your personal measurements, and then sewing a shirt using fabric of your choice, incorporating many intermediate techniques and finishing touches.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

• Choose the correct pattern size based on body measurements
• Apply fitting techniques to customize a garment for your body shape
• Make and document pattern alterations suitable for your skill level
• Select fabrics that match both your skills and the garment style
• Understand and work with intermediate commercial pattern instructions
• Complete garment construction and finishing techniques to an intermediate standard
